The winner could receive their money by Monday, Camelot said.

“We’re delighted Friday’s ticket-holder has come forward to claim this truly life-changing prize,” a National Lottery spokeswoman said.

The winning numbers in Friday’s draw were 5, 8, 10, 11 and 37, with Lucky Stars numbers of 7 and 9. The jackpot had not been won since 26 May.

EuroMillions began in 2004 and the biggest prize in UK history was £161m, won by a Scottish couple in 2011.

Chris and Colin Weir, from Largs in Ayrshire, said they were “tickled pink” when they realised they had won the record-breaking prize.

A couple who landed a Lotto jackpot of £6.3 million have quit their jobs to fulfil their “lifelong dreams”.

A world cruise and a top-of-the-range BMW car are at the top of the shopping list for Denise and Robert Scarr from Morecambe.

They also plan to move to a bigger home and treat their family, which includes seven children and 15 grandchildren.

Robert, 59, and Denise, 56, discovered they had won Saturday’s jackpot when they watched the draw live on television.
Mrs Scarr said her husband began screaming after they had won £25 for three numbers but then he let out an “almighty scream” when realising they had all six numbers.

She said: “Things like this don’t happen to people like us.

“It was then a case of waiting to see how many jackpot winners there had been. It was a couple of hours later we discovered we were the only ones and had won more than £6m.

“This is just life-changing and totally unbelievable. A massive amount of money.”

Mrs Scarr, who worked at homewares store Dunelm Mill in Morecambe, immediately handed in her notice as did her husband, who previously worked at a quarry.
She added: “Retirement was first on the agenda. The win has enabled us to both retire early and look forward to fulfilling all of our life-long dreams.

“We have both longed to go on a cruise for years but were trying to manage the finances around this and the countries we wanted to visit. Now the world is our oyster – a world cruise will definitely be booked for us now.”

The couple bought their Lucky Dip ticket from Morrisons supermarket in their home town.

The winning numbers for the jackpot of £6,311,254 were 1, 18, 20, 31, 38 and 47.

The Scarrs aren’t the only couple to win big on the lottery – below is a video about couple who have won twice in two years.

Tips on Picking Lottery Numbers

It’s easy to understand why so many players spend considerable time and effort deliberating over their choice of lucky numbers. Picking your EuroMillions lottery numbers is the most important part of the game. In fact, other than buying your ticket, it’s just about the only part that really counts.

Lottery players adopt a wide variety of techniques to choose their numbers and here are some of the most popular methods.

Click Now!
Sentimental Significance

Many EuroMillions players choose their numbers based on sentimental significance: this could be anything from birthdays and anniversaries to door numbers and postcodes. This method often gives players a stronger sense of hope as they have attached personal meaning to inanimate numbers. Although this method won’t increase your chances of winning, it does mean that you’re more likely to remember your numbers if they come up!
Serendipitous Coincidence

EuroMillions is a game of pure luck and some players are perfectly content to rely on sheer coincidence to provide them with the winning numbers. Many players simply purchase a Lucky Dip ticket where a random set of numbers is automatically generated for the player. However, there are other ways to come up with your own completely random numbers. You could make a note of the numbers in the registration plate of a passing car, open up the phone book at a random page or even roll a set of dice.

Bear in mind that certain methods will restrict the number range – days of the month will have to be between 1 and 31; rolling one dice will give you between 1 and 6; rolling two dice and adding the result together will give you between 2 and 12 etc. While this will make absolutely no difference to your chances of winning, it will mean that there is a greater chance of you having to share the jackpot due to the number of people using similar methods.
History

Although previous draw results have no impact whatsoever on future draws, some players select their numbers based on those that are drawn most frequently, while others rely on those drawn less frequently or on those that are overdue. It’s possible that people adopt this method of choosing numbers in an attempt to assign some form of logic to a game of luck.

Whichever way you decide to choose your numbers, statistically there is no particular single set of numbers that is more likely, or less likely, to be drawn. There is always a 1 in 116,531,800 chance of winning the EuroMillions jackpot, whether you play a combination of the birthdays of your nearest and dearest or simply select 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.

EuroMillions lottery playing tips

EuroMillions is simple to play and although there is no guaranteed way to improve your chances of winning a prize, there are a handful of tips that can make playing the game as enjoyable and straightforward as possible.

Collect your Euro Millions Lottery from Here>>>
Click Now!
Buy Your Tickets Early

Many players leave buying their EuroMillions tickets until the last minute when they suddenly realise that the time for the draw is fast approaching. Last-minute buying often results in lengthy queues at retailers and with a strict cut-off time of 20:30 CET (19:30 GMT), it is not unusual for players to miss the deadline.
Keep Your Tickets Safe

EuroMillions tickets belong to the bearer, so if you were to lose a winning ticket and someone else found it, they would be entitled to the prize. To make sure that you are able to claim any prizes due to you, we would strongly recommend that you immediately sign the back of your ticket, put it somewhere safe and make sure you remember where you put it!
Check Your Numbers Promptly

If you are not able to check the EuroMillions results immediately after the draw, it’s advisable to check your numbers within the following few days to avoid the possibility of missing out on a prize you may have won. It may be hard to believe but every year a large number of EuroMillions prizes go unclaimed as players simply forget to check their tickets. In 2012 a winning EuroMillions ticket-holder in the UK failed to claim a £63 million jackpot and so it expired and was added to the UK Good Causes Fund.
Claim Quickly

If you are lucky enough to become a EuroMillions winner, claim your prize quickly. The claims procedure varies according to how the ticket was purchased so we advise players to make sure that they know which procedure is applicable in their case.
Play Online

Playing online has a multitude of benefits and is 100% secure. Not only does playing online avoid the inconvenience of having to visit a retailer to purchase a paper ticket but your ticket is stored safely online and automatically checked against your chosen numbers. If your numbers match a winning combination and you are entitled to a prize, you will receive an email with the instruction to log into your account where you will see details of your winning numbers and the prize you have won.

British couple win £1m in lottery draw for second time in two years

David and Kathleen Long from Scunthorpe are the first people to scoop a £1m prize twice and go public, and have beaten odds of 283bn to one.
A UK couple who have won £1m in the Euro Millions lottery for the second time have said they “just can’t believe it”.

David and Kathleen Long from Scunthorpe, who won their first £1m in 2013, scooped a big money prize again on Friday night, beating odds of more than 283bn to one.

Long said he “just knew it would be my turn again some day” as the couple become the first people to win £1m twice who have gone public.

A spokesman for Camelot, which runs the UK national lottery, said: “This is an extraordinary situation where somebody’s been fortunate enough to win twice. As you can imagine, we see winners who win once who are very, very shocked. It must be even more shocking to win twice.”

The couple also scooped a top-of-the-range Jaguar.

Long said: “I always knew I’d win, even the first time. I just had a feeling it was going to be me. I tend to play when I know there are lots of prizes on the go.

“Last time I knew I had a good chance because there were 100 prizes of £1m. Last Friday night I was passing the local shop and saw there were 10 £1m prizes on Euro Millions and a nice car and thought yeah, I’ll give that a go. Got to be worth a few lines and I got five using my usual numbers.

“On Saturday morning I sat down in front of our telly and started checking the numbers. On one line I’d matched two numbers and one star to get 7.20 and thought that’s alright.

“Then I checked the raffle codes, something I’ve learnt to do automatically since winning last time. After a few moments I very calmly called Kath in and said: ‘Have a look at this. It’s there. Look. Read that line’.”

Long said his wife checked the television and went online. “Then she went up right close to our television on the wall, put on her glasses and stared really hard at the raffle numbers. It seemed ages and then she finally said: ‘You said you’d do it again and you have!’ Everything has been a blur ever since. It’s definitely taking longer to sink in this time.”

Meanwhile, a UK ticket holder won Tuesday’s £53m Euro Millions jackpot, but has yet to claim the prize.

It is the 10th biggest Euro Millions jackpot to be won in the UK.

Lincolnshire couple thought £53m EuroMillions win was April Fool’s joke

Retired Richard and Angela Maxwell, from Boston, tell how they thought winning EuroMillions jackpot was prank as they sit 10th on the National Lottery’s UK rich list . A retired couple who have become one of the country’s biggest ever National Lottery winners after bagging more than £53 million at first thought it was an April Fool’s joke.

Richard and Angela Maxwell, from Boston in Lincolnshire, scooped £53,193,914 after winning the EuroMillions jackpot draw on Tuesday.

Camelot said the 67-year-olds now sit 10th on the National Lottery’s UK rich list as they revealed their plans on Thursday afternoon for how they will spend the money. Mr Maxwell, a semi-retired consultant in the poultry industry, said: “I always keep our lottery tickets in the kitchen drawer so I took a break and went online to check the results.

“I looked first at the two Lucky Stars and noticed we had those. Then I scanned across to the first main number and immediately knew they all matched our numbers.
“I checked again and again, five times in total, as I couldn’t believe it.

“Then I saw only one ticket had won £53 million and I was in shock. I thought someone had scanned my ticket somehow and put it on the website as a joke. It was April Fool’s Day after all.”

It comes after another Lincolnshire couple beat odds of 283 billion to one to win £1 million in the EuroMillions lottery for a second time.

Dave and Kathleen Long, from Scunthorpe, won their first £1 million in 2013 and scooped the big money prize again on Friday night.

Mr Maxwell kept the £53m win to himself for four more hours until wife Angela got home from helping to cook for a local OAP luncheon club.

He said: “I knew Angela would be busy and wouldn’t answer her mobile phone so I waited til she got home.

“I kept myself busy making cups of tea for the builders because I couldn’t sit still but didn’t say anything to anyone.”

When his wife came back carrying a basket of tea towels and asking about dinner plans, Mr Maxwell said: “Angela, I’ve got something to tell you.”
Mrs Maxwell said: “I didn’t know what to think. Richard just went red in the face and then said ‘we’ve won £53 million’.

“I just said ‘don’t be stupid’ – he’s always playing jokes so I thought it was an April’s Fool.

“I just didn’t believe it, then he showed me the numbers on the website and I dropped the basket of tea towels on the floor. I then just sat down in the chair for about half-an-hour stunned.”

When the couple called their two daughters, Sharon, 45, and Paula, 44, they too thought it was an April Fool’s joke.

After his win, Mr Long said he “just knew it would be my turn again some day” as the couple became the first people to win £1 million twice who have gone public.

The former lorry driver did not rule out winning for a third time – despite being perplexed at being labelled the luckiest man in Britain.

The couple previously banked £1,000,000 in the EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle draw on Friday July 26 2013, before they married.

Now they are looking for what they called their “dream home”, although they still appeared to be thinking about a modest semi.

The record for the biggest ever National Lottery win is held by husband and wife Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs in Ayrshire.

They said they had been “tickled pink” after claiming £161,653,000 in July 2011 to rank among Europe’s biggest lottery winners.

EuroMillions syndicates are incredibly popular as they increase a player’s chance of winning without necessarily increasing the cost. Of course, any prize winnings are shared between all syndicate participants.

While there is no guarantee that playing each week, or as part of a syndicate, will secure a win, it is entirely feasible that you could win the jackpot the first time you buy a ticket. In 2013 17-year-old Jane Park of Midlothian, Scotland, won a £1 million prize after buying a lottery ticket for the very first time.

The jackpot-winning ticket was sold at the South Fallsburg Food Mart.

Pratt said she was between real estate appointments when she stopped for gas in her Sullivan County hometown. Noticing the jackpot for the upcoming drawing had topped $100 million, she bought $4 worth of tickets instead of her usual $1. One of her Quick Pick tickets hit the jackpot.

She chose the lump sum payment, and will net about $54 million after taxes.

State lottery officials say an upstate New York county has its second winner of a huge jackpot in recent months.

On Jan. 12, Harold Diamond of Wurtsboro in Sullivan County was announced as the sole winner of a $326 million Mega Millions jackpot drawn on Nov. 4, 2014.

The lottery office also announced Monday that the jackpot-winning ticket for last Saturday’s $136 million Powerball drawing was sold at convenience store on Staten Island.
